About Red Rooster

Red Rooster Records started out as a hobby, spurred by a love of the blues and its wayward child - rock music. Like most things in life, the more you dig, the more you find and before long I found myself looking back to the bluesmen who inspired so many of today’s bands - Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy, Robert Johnson, Willie Dixon et al. Once you’re there, it’s a short hop to the world of jazz in its many forms - Big Band, Swing, the birth of Cool and Be Bop. Soon my hobby was becoming an obsession.

Collecting is fun and addictive, but so is sharing, so I set up Red Rooster to help spread the word to other fans of the genre. Maybe you’ll discover someone new or find an album you’ve not come across before, or one you’ve always wanted.

In today’s digital world, vinyl has a unique and lasting influence that cannot be replaced. It affects not just what we hear, but the way we stop and listen. It may be aural history, but it’s more alive today than ever.

If you don’t agree with any of my categorisations, please don’t judge me too harshly. Sometimes it’s hard to draw a line or decide where an artist truly sits, but that’s only as it should be.

All of my vinyl has been personally inspected, cleaned and graded to the standard MINT, VERY GOOD+, VERY GOOD, GOOD, FAIR & POOR categories for both the vinyl and sleeve. Given that many of these are over 60 years old, perfect M copies are few and far between, but even those marked F are still a pleasure to listen to.

I offer a full refund if you are not satisfied for any reason.
